Melbourne Music Week (MMW) is a nine-day celebration of the city’s thriving, world-renowned music scene.
Driven by its vision as a uniquely Melbourne event—it’s the only event of its type in Australia—MMW teams up with a range of independent promoters, venues, labels and businesses to create a dynamic program that illuminates the connections between music, people and places.
MMW has built a reputation for reimagining spaces for creative use, and each year has a different flagship venue, such as the Argus Building in 2012, Former Royal Women’s Hospital in 2015 and the iconic State Library in 2016. From intimate, interactive experiences in non-traditional venues to headline performances at Melbourne Town Hall and the iconic Live Music Safari, the program is a direct result of the depth and diversity of Melbourne’s creative music industry.
MMW has now presented and co-presented over 700 events, collaborated with hundreds of promoters, labels, venues and businesses and had around 1500 acts perform, most of which from Victoria. In 2016 Melbourne Music Week presented 110 events, which featured 240 artists and had input from more than 65 dedicated programming partners. These events were held across 40 Melbourne locations with an attendance of 51,000 and an economic impact of $2.6 million.
The expression of interest (EOI) is for all facets of the music industry, including venues, promoters, labels, businesses, emerging individuals, creators and organisations looking to self or co-produce and event exclusively for Melbourne Music Week.
Applications close Friday 9 June, midday.
