Join us as we officially kick off MMW with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony with Wurundjerri.
Following the ceremony, Kutcha Edwards, the 2016 Melbourne Prize for Music and Awards recipient, will perform a special set. A Mutti Mutti man and member of the Stolen Generations, Kutcha began his musical career 25 years ago as part of the ensemble Watbalimba and has gone on to becoming one of the country’s respected singer/songwriters.
After, rising electronic/pop artist MUKI brings her energetic set to The Carpark. An explosion of pastel pink bubblegum, the artist’s sound is the sonic version of a bath in cream soda pop. Growing up in the suburbs of Sydney with a Blues Musician father and psychologist mother, MUKI definitely has a unique insight to the world around her and invites all who listen into her peculiar universe. Her influences range from the catchy tunes of The Spice Girls to the soulful harmonies of Whitney Huston, but also include K.Pop, A.G Cook, Grimes and SOPHIE.
