Plan your Safari so you don’t miss any of your must-see sets
Co-presented with Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar for Live Music Safari
Featuring Qwerty + GLOVV + Shiny Coin + Kt Spit
The punk scene has been notoriously masculine – in attendance, attitude and sound, meaning women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community can often feel excluded or vulnerable at punk shows. There’s a burgeoning scene of these ‘minority’ artists in Melbourne where they fit the punk mentality but may not fit the traditional understanding of punk rock. This event is a showcase of these artists and bands that are reclaiming punk as their own through DIY ethics, extreme vulnerability, and their ‘never say die’ punk attitude.
This year, Live Music Safari celebrates 40 years of punk. For one night only, eleven of the city’s iconic music venues are ditching the cover charge for a huge night of punk-inspired live music. We’re not necessarily talking straight up punk – we’ve asked the venues to get creative, curating a line-up that nods to the rebellious, frank and fearless spirit of punk. So plan your night, choose your own adventure, and join us on this unruly music safari.
